SERKANNER SCORE! (Another KJA interview)

Post by SandChigger »

I checked out the interview the Hack posted a link to in a blahg post yesterday and guess who I found already there in the comments?

Serkanner!

The King Speaks…Kevin J. Anderson flys into SciFiCrush for an Interview!

(The King?! :puke: )

Note that the second commenter, Deb Ray, is an admin on KJASF and, if I'm not mistaken, a Wordfire employee.

Edit/Add:

Forgot this, from the actual interview, quite sweet:
AB: Now for our lightning round of questions. Please pick the answer you like better and feel free to comment if you like!

Steven King or Dean Koontz?

KJA: Yes.

Also one of McKevin's "test readers."

And, man, does that group do a swell job!

KJA: Yes.
It's Stephen King. And any interviewer who brings up Koontz's name without asking about KJA's ejection from the collaboration is a pussy.

I'm still very proud of The Quarry but … let's face it; in the end the real best way to sign off would have been with a great big rollicking Culture novel.

I had to share this list on Amazon with the Special Forces thread.

Some choice quotes:
I know that War of the Worlds was the film that made you want to get into writing.
Well, that just about says it all, doesn't it. A movie inspired him to become a writer. Fuck me.
It was a daunting task to step into one of the most beloved franchises, but I was a big fan myself, and Lucasfilm had read my books and had decided I was the right writer for the job. For some fans (many of them frustrated authors themselves), *nobody* would be acceptable to write SW, but you don’t write for them.
Gee, do you think he might be talking about series *other* that Star Wars here? And the "many of them frustrated authors themselves" line sounds a lot like the "jealousy" line our Amazon friend Sound Girl was taking.

Does KJA really think we object to his involvement in Dune because we're failed writers jealous of his success? And is he coaching his Special Forcers to say the same? It just beggars belief.

The rest of the interview was just a huge commercial for all the various books hes published in the last year.

My favorite.

So Lucas hires you to write some books for Star Wars and you don't think he wants you to write for his fans? What an arrogant prick.

You don't write for SOME fans.

The difficult ones. You know, the ones who expect you to know the material/the 'verse/the characters and to do your best to NOT FUCK IT UP.

HOW did this insufferable little worm gain such prominence?!

One thing I like about this forum is everyone is intelligent enough that they say what I'm thinking first. But it really does cut down on my overall post count.

But yes. KJA is an arrogant prick, a bad writer, has a fat wife, and all that good stuff. +1

Okay, hell with it. You guys are too cool for me: just how DO you guys get those little avatars to follow you around the interwebs?

In between laughing my ass off at your comments — well done, chaps — I was distracted by seeing all your cute little icons, lined and nice and purdy. It makes me insane with jealousy.

Tell me now, or I make up another conspiracy for Conway. I'm not bluffing!

Woot! I am Gravitar-enabled!

What a great day. First, a non-stop series of preek smackdowns at Amazon; now, my very own set of uber-hip pixels. Life is grand.

thanks, Duke - that there was burbon-snortin' funny.

choked myself a little, too ...

he hasn't.
no-one really knows who he is or gives a fuck.
a handful of Jacket-sniffers & a handful of Jacket-haters.

I was going to suggest you walk around a mall bookstore
& randomly ask people who Keith is ... then I remembered
where you are ... but I'd bet the number of people there
who know who is is about the same as anywhere ....

hell, Frank Herbert isn't all that well-known to the general public.

"Dune ? That's that crazy space movie from the 80s, huh ?
Saw it once on acid. Real trippy. They made a book of that ?"

damn, I just skipped over to that interview,
couldn't actually stomach to read it (like
the silly new book(s)), but I think we may
have played into the Jacket's hand. (pocket ?)

one comment from some naif, then a slew of
attacks from the outcast, one right after another.

The Keith can claim organized harassment.
(and he'd be right, but ...)

and my comment was to wonder how long
Keith & the HLP would allow those comments
to stay up. (but I trust Chig is copying & saving,
and should they disappear, will spread the evidence
across the interwebs ... )

You know what you were saying about no one knowing who the fuck he is? Well you're right. And nowhere is that more evident than in the comments on these online interviews.

Go back and look at some of the old ones. If it weren't for us, most of them wouldn't have any comments at all. ;)

(And, yeah, things all safely saved. ;) )

I'm pretty sure TheJacket never looks back.

I'm sure he checks in once, just to make sure the link works and to make sure the photograph(s) remind everyone that he is The Whitest Man in the World. After that, though? He's gone, baby. He doesn't give a shit about these two-bit websites no one has ever heard of, nor does he care about at all about the fans that run them, provided they go out and buy the books.

He pops in, gives the same old reading-from-his-resume answers, checks back once, and that is it. On to the next one, never looking back.

OK. And because they are small, "two-bit" sites, they're creaming themselves just to have a big "best-selling/read-by-millions" author like him even talk to them.

Now things make a bit more sense... ;)
