That's news to me. I asked over and over at DN if they had a contract with him. Now I know. Thanks. When was that dated? That could be the second official OH holiday...

A couple of days ago in the Ask a Hack section, someone asked if they would consider doing a sequal to the Dosadi Experiment. On April 28 at 6:49 pm KJA responded, "If Brian and I ever did anything of Frank Herbert's other than Dune, my pick would be a sequal to Hellstrom's Hive. But for now, we've got books under contract for the next five years." :puke:

He probably threw that out there knowing that one of our agents would report it and see it, and that we'd despair over having five more years of the least-talented writer on the planet doing his best to destroy FH's legacy.

God, I hate him so very, very much.

BAH! I can do five years standing on my head!

The sensation of it was only a minor accent in the symphony of pain.

Depending on how KJA is counting, five more years might just mean the next three "Zeroes of Dune" books we already know about:

2009: Winds of Dune
2010: zilch
2011: Throne of Dune
2012: nada
2013: Wormguy of Dune

If so, then the publishers may publish these to meet their obligations, then cut him loose.

Zeroes is right, how do you like a series called Heroes of Dune, when first off, the whole point of Dune is that heroes are dangerous (superheroes at least), and IRULAN is a hero? WTF? Hero?

He believes in the that anyone could improve itself. It is a very nice!

As far as i'm concerned, I read their first trilogy, which was pleasant (not very good but readable) and I said "I would'nt read next one". But I did. I believed their freedom was larger than the first trilogy. It was bad and I said "stop!".
Of course, I read Sandworms & Hunters...

When they wrote close to Dune (Houses) : readable
When they wrote their "own" history (Jihad) : quite bad
When they wrote after Dune : I do not have word to define how angry I am

So, I swear I won't read the new ones. That's too much... :snooty:

Interestingly, Leto of Dune isn't listed as "forthcoming" in what I'm looking at.... :?: :?: :?:

Well, don't get your hopes up too much. It could just be that they're only listing the NEXT forthcoming book. :(

Shaddam is definitely DEAD by CoD. And KJA definitely has something in mind with a grab for power and a clone ar...er, I mean, ghola army. ;)

That means (or it should, at least) that The Thunder Throne of Dune will be set before CoD as well. Which still leaves them with the first years of Leto II's reign to rain on.
