Chapter 12

Odd as it may seem, great struggles such as the one you can see emerging from my
journals are not always visible to the participants. Much depends on what people
dream in the secrecy of their hearts. I have always been as concerned with the
shaping of dreams as with the shaping of actions. Between the lines of my
journals is the struggle with humankind's view of itself-a sweaty contest on a
field where motives from our darkest past can well up out of an unconscious
reservoir and become events with which we not only must live but contend. It is
the hydraheaded monster which always attacks from your blind side. I pray,
therefore, that when you have traversed my portion of the Golden Path you no
longer will be innocent children dancing to music you cannot hear.

-The Stolen Journals

Nayla is walking up the stairs to see Leto in his Citadel tower. Leto admires her for her patience and simplicity. She's also incredibly strong. He considers her his most useful servant. She believes he is God and obeys him in everything. Occasionally though, Nayla's faith needs to be strengthened by the presence of her god, this is why she is comming to see Leto. She didn't even question when he ordered her to join Siona's rebelion and obey her commands, even if commanded by Siona to kill him. He had given her a genuine crysknife in that first meeting, throwing away a bit of the past.

EDITED: I accidentally thought this and the next chapter were the same. I'm going to copy and paste all of my comments to Chapter 13 and treat 12+ 13 together...
