I'd like to put this in my signature, does the forum support the flash format?
http://www.swfcabin.com/open/1284833811" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

(I'll see if anyone is using one then I'll know, but if there is some piece of bb code for it like
[swf][/swf] drop me a line here)

I had to update my flash player to see it, maybe that's it?
wouldn't that be a strain on people with low bandwiths to have such a file to process though?

I keep getting a hanging hourglass, which makes me think that unfortunately it's too big and bandwidth piggy to have on a board that is accessed by some folks with dialup.

yeah ! thought so...
Never mind; like most of my ideas, it failed the reality check ;)

Does that mean that anyone with dial up would have to wait ages to see it even if I just post the link for them?

It seems an eternity since I've used such a connection and I'm pretty sure I forgot how slow it was(or I wouldn't ask the above question)

@serkanner: glad you liked it, I can give you the adress of the website I made it on(they just put that tiny ad if you're not premium); and it's pretty straight forward to use for quite a good result

If you've all this time on your hands, why not pop over by this way and help me put in some cement stairs down to my it's-just-a-hole-but-it-gets-pissy-if-you-don't-call-it-a-basement?

I went to Lowe's yesterday morning and bought 15 80-lb bags of Quikrete. Doesn't sound like much put like that. But it's 1200 pounds. I then spent four or five hours shifting it from my uncle's pick-up to the deck round back in a wheelbarrow. When I was done and had poured the first three of the steps, I came in and took a shower and nearly fell asleep sitting on the edge of the tub. I ate something for dinner and went to bed at an amazing 9:00. Tried doing some more of Anathem but after reading the same paragraph ten times and still not understanding it, I turned the lights off and died. Woke up around 4:00 AM with every muscle in my body screaming bloody murder. The old "muscles I didn't even know I had" thing is no joke.

Not sure how any of that is relevant here, except maybe about things being too heavy. :P

Oh, and this: The failure to think things through is the source of all evil.

I wouldn't call that time on my hands, it's more finding something to do with my pc that looks like I am working from a distance(just like everyone else on my floor).

Hope that little alarm button around your neck still works, just in case!

OK, THAT one I get!

Sorry, lotek, I'm still not in the proper age (or disability?) group to have one of those. :)

Although my uncle did tell me to be sure to take my cellphone with me when I went under the house... :?

To check whether you're home?

No, in case something fell on me (possible), or jumped on me (rock crickets, eeew!), or chewed on me (feral cats and mousey rats? None seen thus far!) while I was down in The Hole.

(I've got two more steps to pour and then I'll slap some waterproofing paint on the whole thing and hope it holds another year. :D )

My parents used to make me crawl under their house to turn the outside faucets on and off for winter. I'm emotionally scarred for life. That's why I bought a house with a basement.

There are places under my house where I have never yet dared venture. One day, some day, however, I'll outfit myself like a spelunker and visit them all...

I dream dark dreams of subsidence, of caverns unfathomable that stretch and gape open to embrace me as we fall.... The old rain cistern collapsed a few years ago and ate a whole young willow I'd planted. Only a few twigs poked up from the ground when I returned.

I have this love-hate thing going with this house.
